Manningham boasts a proud visual arts history, with many of the Heidelberg School painters, the Potters Cottage ceramicists and mid-twentieth century artists such as Sidney Nolan, Joy Hester, Albert Tucker and later Inge and Grahame King at various times living or working in the region.

Building on this heritage, Manningham City Council supports the vibrant arts and cultural life of the region via its three major cultural venues and through a variety of cultural activities and programs.

Council also manages a significant collection of Victorian and Australian ceramics, and has a number of major public artworks situated across the municipality.
