On show at Doncaster Playhouse this October, “How’s Your Acting Going” is a funny and painfully truthful comedy about that special dying feeling when friends and family ask every failing actor's least favourite question and then to try to offer advice.

“Have you done anything yet? Any television? I don’t think we’ve seen you in anything? Have we?”

Seasoned performer Louise O’Dwyer brings to life a series of achingly familiar characters: the aunt from Portsea, voice like nails down a blackboard, who measures success in the foot lengths of a yacht; the misty-minded Steiner teacher and her breathy goodwill of death; not to forget the disappointed dad, and the therapist who will chart it all on the graph of human failure, and more, in a hilarious train-wreck of appalling honesty.

How’s Your Acting Going? is in turns intensely personal and universal, hilarious and deeply moving. Beginning with laughter, some voodoo dancing and forgotten Neruda poetry, the tone shifts to explore unexpected and beautiful depths, becoming a genuinely moving and sophisticated theatre experience.
