The cult 1980s film Labyrinth and its world of puppetry, trickery and bizarre characters is sure to enchant audiences all over again as part of the Pop Up Cinema at Heide Museum of Modern Art on Saturday 19 September.

Directed by Jim Henson, Labyrinth follows the story of a young girl as she seeks to rescue her little brother from the Goblin King and finds the adventure of a lifetime.

The community is invited to join in the fun at the Pop Up event from 3.00 pm with free family activities including a pop up games space featuring giant board games, inflatable and backyard games, puppet making and Bowie inspired face painting. The Museum will also be offering a special 2 for 1 entry discount to its exhibition venues from 3.00 pm on the day of the event.

Magic illusionist “Mr Tails” will set the mood with his crystal ball manipulation and fire eating performance at 6.00 pm before Labyrinth commences at night fall around 6.45pm.

Proudly presented by Manningham Council in partnership with Heide Museum of Modern Art, this free event is an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy an afternoon of art, entertainment and cinema under the stars.

“The aim of Council’s Pop Up campaign is to provide a series of family friendly events and initiatives for the community throughout our City’s neighbourhood venues,” Manningham Mayor, Cr Paul McLeish said.

“Heide Museum of Modern Art is a significant cultural icon in Manningham and Council is delighted to partner with the museum and promote this fantastic cultural location to residents and visitors to our municipality.”
