We have social support services to help you, or the older person you care for, build social connections. You can join these planned activity groups if you’re eligible. You can apply via My Aged Care.
Social connections for older adults
Who's eligible for the service
You, or the person you're caring for can access this service if:
- they’re over 65 years old and have registered through My Aged Care
- they identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and are over 50 years old and have registered through My Aged Care.
How can you access our social programs
We have regular and occasional programs helping older people socialise and stay active. This helps improve social connections. You can participate in the programs:
- online
- by telephone
- in person.
What languages are spoken in the speaking groups
Our social groups include the following languages:
- Italian
- Greek
- Chinese.
We can help if you require additional support to attend a program. We can organise transport for some of our in person programs.
We can’t help you with private social functions.
Social support activity costs
The Commonwealth government subsidises the service. Fees will depend on the group activity and if we’ve provided transport. The cost is usually $5-$13. View a full list of fees and how to pay.
