Carols by Candlelight
** Update - Event cancelled due to extreme weather **
Santa is coming to Manningham
Christmas is a time of celebration, family and togetherness, and for 37 years our community has joined us for our spectacular Carols by Candlelight. Come along for a night of food, fun and carols, singing along to your favourite Christmas tunes.
Manningham Council would like to wish you, your families and loved ones a very Merry Christmas.
6.00pm to 7.30pm
Featuring plenty of pre-show fun, free activities and entertainment for the kids, including face painting, a jumping castle, barbecue and giant games. Jump into our free photo booth or get your photo taken with Santa to remember the night. Show band Code One will kick off the pre-show stage entertainment at 6.30pm with a great mix of classics and Carols favourites.
Australian actor and 2015 X Factor finalist Dan Hamill returns for his second year as host of the main event. Acts will include X Factor star Natalie Ong and the artist of ARIA and iTunes’ number one crossover album, Josh Piterman, as well as 15-year-old The Voice contestant - Josh Richards, all backed by the Melbourne Contemporary Choir and the Manningham Concert Band.
And don’t miss our highlight of the night – a very special appearance on stage by Santa Claus.
The evening will finish with a spectacular fireworks finale at 10.00pm.
Food and novelties for everyone
Pack a picnic rug and dine alfresco on the grass or choose from a selection of Melbourne’s finest food stalls and trucks, coffee and snacks available on the night. The ever popular glow novelties and candles will also be for sale, raising funds for local charities and service clubs.
On the night
Manningham Carols by Candlelight is a smoke-free, family friendly event.
There will be an ATM and toilets on site.
Visit the information tent for a free child’s wristband to write your contact details and secure around your child’s wrist, in case you and your child get separated.
We’re also encouraging everyone to help us minimise waste this festive season, so bring your own re-usable drink bottles to fill up at the free water station.
Song books are available on the night.
What to bring
A torch, comfortable shoes, picnic rug, re-usable water bottle, warm clothes and plenty of Christmas spirit.
What not to bring
Tents, marquees, glassware, video or recording equipment, fireworks or pyrotechnics of any type.
A large screen and Auslan interpreters will make the event accessible for everyone. A viewing area is reserved for the mobility impaired. Accessible parking will be provided via The Boulevarde off George Street.
To minimise disruption for local residents, parking restrictions will be in place in the streets surrounding Ruffey Lake Park.
Road closures will take place within Clancy’s Lane, Cantala Drive (including side streets), Miller Place, Earl Street, Botanic Drive, Church Road, McCallum Road, Astran Place, Roseland Grove and Anarth Street from 4.00pm to 11.00pm on Friday 14 December. The Boulevarde off George Street will also be closed to through traffic.
If you live in this area, we will let you know about road closures and permits before the event.
Your family pets
We encourage you to leave your pets at home so they don’t get frightened by the night’s fireworks. The fireworks finale will commence around 10.00pm and will run for approximately 5 minutes. If you live in nearby streets, secure your family pets in a safe, comfortable location or bring them into your house during the display.
Manningham Carols by Candlelight is proudly presented by Manningham Council. Thank you to our event sponsors Barry Plant, Porsche Centre Doncaster, Tullamore Doncaster and Stockland The Pines.
