Manningham Council is planning upgrades to Sharon Reserve in Doncaster, Schafter Reserve in Doncaster East and Westwood Reserve in Bulleen and is seeking feedback from the community as to what they would like to see in each of the reserves.

The upgrades will be completed as part of Council’s Neighbourhood Park Development Program 2015/16 and Open Space Development Program 2015/16, and include improvements to playspaces, planting, seating and pathways.

Draft development plans have been developed for each of the reserves and include examples and ideas of the proposed play equipment and features.

As well as improvements to the playspace, the plan for Sharon Reserve includes creating a new circuit path, which is a recommendation of Manningham’s Open Space Strategy 2014.

As part of the upgrade for Schafter Reserve it is proposed that the playspace will be relocated to a more central location, with an additional path providing access into the reserve.

The upgrade planned for Westwood Reserve in Bulleen is recommended in the Open Space Strategy in response to changing housing types, an ageing population as well as a new generation of young people moving into the area.

Manningham Mayor Cr Jennifer Yang said these three local parks provide opportunities for the community to socialise, have fun and enjoy being outdoors.

“The upgrades have been planned as part of the Neighbourhood Park Development Program 2015/16 and Open Space Development Program 2015/16, and include some of the recommendations in Manningham’s Open Space Strategy 2014.

“I encourage residents and community members to get involved and have your say to help us plan for the future of Sharon Reserve, Schafter Reserve and Westwood Reserve, all of which are great parks for our community to enjoy.”

Residents are encouraged to visit www.yoursaymanningham.com.au to find out more and have their say on the reserve upgrades.

The consultations close on Friday 18 December.
