Manningham Council has partnered with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services and RMIT’s Healthy Liveable Cities Group to produce a neighbourhood liveability report for Manningham.

The Liveability Assessment of the Neighbourhoods of Manningham report provides an analysis of 16 different social, economic and environmental liveability indicators of health, to better understand the liveability strengths and challenges across the municipality.

The report analysed data across all 281 neighbourhoods in Manningham, with each neighbourhood comprising approximately 400 people.

Liveability indicators include socio-economic conditions, access to local community and social infrastructure services, environmental conditions such as access to public open space, walkability, transport, employment, early education, housing and access to alcohol.

Manningham Mayor, Cr Paul McLeish said the report would inform planning across the municipality, and help make Manningham a more connected, inclusive and healthier community.

“We will use this research to understand what drives the health and needs of our community, and use the insights to plan our neighbourhoods as Manningham continues to face the challenges of population growth, congestion and climate change,“ he said.

“This report will start an important conversation with residents and provides us with crucial insights so we can focus our attention on specific areas for improvement.”

The report will inform a range of future planning and strategy development areas, including the Manningham Healthy City Strategy and Council Plan.
