26 June 2014

Manningham Council has received a Notice of Motion by Cr Dot Haynes to alter the Melbourne Hill Road Catchment Drainage Scheme resolution agreed to at the 24 June Council meeting.

Cr Haynes’ motion does not change the intent of the original motion by Cr Sophy Galbally, but expands on engaging an external environmental water management consultant to assist preparing flood mitigation options for not only Melbourne Hill Road but also for its broader application to the greater Warrandyte area.

Cr Haynes is also asking Council staff to prepare and present terms of reference and a costing for employing an external consultant by the end of September 2014.

Cr Haynes’ Notice of Motion will be considered by Council at its meeting on 29 July.

“In the meantime, Council officers will not continue with work on the project design approved by Council in March, apart from completing existing site investigations, which have already been commissioned from specialist consultants. This is because the amended motion from Cr Haynes does not change the intent of the original motion from Cr Galbally, and officers will be acting in accordance with the expressed intent of the Council,” said Chief Executive Officer, Joe Carbone.
