Manningham Council has recently appointed a total of 32 new community representatives to four of its advisory committees to help guide Council in meeting community expectations in each of the committees’ subject areas.

The community representatives were officially appointed at the Council meeting on Tuesday 26 April and included:

  • 20 new community representatives to the Access and Equity Advisory Committee for a period of two years
  • Two new representatives to the Open Space and Streetscape Advisory Committee for a period of four years
  • Seven new representatives to the Integrated Transport Advisory Committee for a period of three years
  • Three new representatives to the Arts Advisory Committee for a period of three years.

The appointments were made following an expression of interest process for each of the committees earlier this year.

Each of the committees includes a mix of Council and community representatives and provides guidance on the committees’ specialty area.

The Access and Equity Advisory Committee advises Council on measures to ensure that disability, diversity and social inclusion issues are considered in developing and implementing Council’s strategic direction.

The Open Space and Streetscape Advisory Committee provides advice to Council on the design and development of Manningham’s public open spaces and streetscapes.

The Integrated Transport Advisory Committee provides an avenue for the community to influence improvements and enhancements of the transport network and accessibility throughout Manningham.

The Arts Advisory Committee will provide strategic advice on arts and cultural development in Manningham. It will also assist in promoting greater awareness and understanding of arts and culture in Manningham.
