MC Square was buzzing the weekend before last when the community turned out to celebrate the building’s 10-year anniversary.

The day featured vibrant activities for the whole family, including performers, market stalls, art workshops and games.

The celebrations began with the official relaunch of the Doncaster Hill Community Garden by Manningham Mayor Cr Deirdre Diamante. Cr Diamante was joined by special guest Jane Edmanson from Gardening Australia.

The garden relaunch unveiled a new shed, veggie boxes and a stunning art mural from Ashala by Rebekah Paige and dance was performance by The Chinese Senior Citizens Club of Manningham Inc.

MC Square is an accessible hub for the local community. It has a range of services including health, education, welfare, community, arts, cultural and heritage.

It’s home to the Manningham Art Gallery and Manningham Art Studios as well as the Doncaster Library.

Children and families use the Early Years at MC Square childcare centre, Doncaster Kindergarten and the Maternal and Child Health Service.

Manningham Mayor Cr Deirdre Diamante said it was an honour to celebrate this iconic Manningham destination.

“For the past ten years, it’s been wonderful to see this space serve so many functions for people in our community.

People of all ages and abilities come here to access the many programs, activities and services, all in one place.

I’d like to thank all our MC Square tenants and their teams for your work over the past 10 years. You have provided services that improve the wellbeing and livelihood of our community.

The architecture of MC Square helps us to see the potential of a building and public space.

But it is the people who bring to life to the building and surrounding spaces; so thank you to our Manningham community who have made MC Square a special place.”
