The Warrandyte Library, which was a focal point of the redevelopment of the Warrandyte Community Centre (WCC), is winning over both locals and visitors with its fresh design and impressive array of services.

In 2010, a comprehensive review of libraries in the City found the shop front library operating in Goldfields Plaza, Warrandyte was inadequate and a Branch Library was required to meet the existing and future needs of the local and broader community.

Whitehorse Manningham Libraries has been extremely pleased with the warm response the Warrandyte Library has received since opening its doors in August, 2013 with 1282 new members signing up.

Every month at the Library this year there has been an average of:

  • 2,386 visits
  • 450 information enquiries to staff
  • 78 attendances at children’s programs
  • 3,306 loans
  • 200 computer sessions.

Some of the positive comments received include:

“I didn’t think we needed a new library here at Warrandyte because I was happy collecting books from the old one, but now that it’s here I couldn’t be without it – it’s a fabulous service.”

“I am a member of every public library in Victoria and have photographed them all, and I give this library a big tick of approval – it’s absolutely beautiful.”

“This is a beautiful space for the community – we love it.”

“My daughter and I attended the craft session – making a Christmas star – it was fantastic. It was great to have quality time with my daughter in the local community with no cost – more please!!”

Warrandyte Library members have access to a new collection of 8500 books, audio visual materials and magazines, Wi-Fi and fixed internet facilities, monthly Creative Circle, weekly storytimes, chess and jigsaw puzzles along with teenage games and a children’s area.
