Manningham Mayor, Cr Jim Grivokostopoulos, together with the Member for Warrandyte, the Hon. Ryan Smith, has officially opened the new and improved Warrandyte Reserve Pavilion.
The $2.3 million pavilion is now home to the Warrandyte Sporting Group, incorporating the Warrandyte Football Club, Warrandyte Junior Football Club, Warrandyte Cricket Club and the Warrandyte Netball Club (which previously did not have a club facility).
Manningham Mayor, Cr Jim Grivokostopoulos, said the pavilion is a fantastic community asset and will help promote sport in the local community and greater Manningham.
"The first sod was turned in April 2013, and the project was completed in good time and within budget."
"The pavilion includes change rooms and amenities, first aid and umpires rooms and club storage on the ground floor, as well as a multipurpose space, kitchen/canteen, netball locker room and netball club storage on the second level."
The project was funded by Manningham Council ($1.2 million), with support from the Victorian Government ($800,000) and the Warrandyte Sporting Group, in particular the Warrandyte Junior Football Club and Warrandyte Netball Club (totalling $320,000), which included funding assistance from the Warrandyte Community Bank.
"This project was the result of a lot of hard work and persistence from many people. Congratulations to everyone involved."
"I am very proud to have been given the honour of opening the Warrandyte Reserve Pavilion, and I look forward to attending many events here in the years to come," Cr Grivokostopoulos said.
