Manningham Council has put together a refreshed proposal for Council’s property in Montgomery Street, Doncaster East.

Community feedback is being sought on the new proposal which aims to transform the site into quality residential development, and deliver improved public open space and reinvigorate the local shopping strip.

This follows on from a mutual agreement between Council and Places Victoria last year to terminate the Project Development Agreement (PDA) governing the proposed redevelopment of 2-10 Montgomery Street, Doncaster East.

Amendment C102 to the Manningham Planning Scheme to change the planning controls at 6 – 16 Montgomery Street, along with a planning permit application to subdivide a parcel of land for future residential development, more particularly to

Rezone the majority of the land at 6 Montgomery Street, currently a public car park, from a General Residential Zone 2 to a Public Use Zone 6
Rezone 8 Montgomery Street, a building formerly occupied by Doncare, from a Public Use Zone 6 to a General Residential Zone 2
Apply a new Design and Development Overlay (DDO13) to the land at (part) 6 – 16 Montgomery Street, to manage building height and setbacks

This will create a development site of approximately 2000m² at 6 (part) – 10 Montgomery Street, to be sold for residential development through an Expression of Interest (EOI)

The proposed changes will not have an impact on the Doncaster East Preschool, which will remain in its current location at 4 Montgomery Street.

Council is also looking to upgrade the open space at 2 Montgomery Street, provide 28 car spaces on the remaining Council owned land at 6 Montgomery Street, and upgrade the laneway at the rear of the shops along Doncaster Road.

Amendment C102 and the planning permit application will be on public exhibition from 20 August – 1 October 2015, and can be inspected at the:
