Connecting our community through safe footpaths is one of the ways we’re building a better Manningham.
As part of our 2022-23 Capital Works Program, we’re constructing the missing section of footpath between 80 and 98 Wood Street, Templestowe to improve safety and accessibility.
Where is it?
We will construct the footpath on the south side of Wood Street (between McLachlan Street and Milne Street) in Templestowe.
Why is the footpath needed?
To link current footpaths on either side of the works area, and provide improved accessibility and a safe, all-weather connection for pedestrians.
As the nature strip is steep in this area, the works design includes the installation of kerb and channel (concrete gutters) along the edge of the street to assist in directing stormwater into drains.
When will the works happen?
The project will commence in June 2023 and is expected to take 3 months.
If delays occur due to poor weather or unexpected events, we will let you know.
How will the works affect me?
Once works begin, please allow extra time for travelling safely through the area and follow directions indicated by signage and traffic controllers.
While we’re building the footpath, we may store materials and machinery on the nature strip in Wood Street.
We may need to remove some small street trees as part of these works and will ensure vegetation is replanted whenever possible, when the works are complete.
We will contact residents directly to discuss timing and disruptions closer to works beginning.
We will make every effort to reduce any inconvenience to residents, motorists and pedestrians as we progress this project, including working between the hours of 7.00am and 5.00pm on weekdays.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
Thank you for your patience while we plan and undertake these important works.
