Walkers and history buffs keen to get out and discover new trails now have double the reason to explore the new Park Orchards Heritage Trail.

Officially opened on Sunday 19 May, the trail includes 12 interpretive signs highlighting the area’s history.

Passionate about local history, Manningham Mayor Cr Paula Piccinini, said Manningham was proud to partner with the Park Orchards Lions Club in delivering the new signs along the 4.44 kilometre trail.

“We are always looking for ways to celebrate our local heritage and hope the interpretive signs will encourage community members to get active while learning more about the heritage of Park Orchards,” she said.

Manningham provided $5,000 and in-kind support towards the project.

More than 100 people attended the opening event, which also celebrated the Park Orchards Lions Club’s 40th year of service to the community.
