The three main community markets held in Manningham have adapted to the changing times with Warrandyte Riverside Market, Park Orchards Market and Wonga Park Farmers and Makers Market moving online to hold virtual market events via Facebook.

Warrandyte Riverside Market reported that its first virtual market earlier this month was a resounding hit, with over 70 stallholders joining in and many purchases made. The event was held on the previously advertised market day and conducted live, with updates from organisers and stallholders on Facebook throughout the day. People were able to purchase goods directly from stallholders.

The live aspect fostered a strong sense of community spirit among participants, even though people were logging in from their homes. Stallholders and traders were able to chat and endorse each other’s wares, while members of the community mingled virtually and had a great time.

In the lead up to holding its first virtual market this Saturday 25 April, Wonga Park Market has been keeping their favourite food producers connected to their community by organising pre-orders for pick-up at Kellybrook Winery on specific days.

Park Orchards Market is running a virtual market on their Facebook page. This has been operating since Sunday 15 March and is a great way to stay connected with your favourite stallholder and get access to great local products. Check their page daily for deals and opportunities to support the market and their stallholders.
