When is my garden bin collected?
Your green lid garden bin is emptied fortnightly. Find out what day your bin is collected.
What items can and cannot be put into my garden bin?
Your green lid garden bin is for garden waste which must be placed loosely in the bin and not in plastic bags.

Grass clippings
Leaves
Small branches (up to 100mm in diameter)
Garden prunings
Weeds
Flowers
No we don’t collect:
No garden waste in plastic bags
No large logs, stumps or timber cut offs
Book a bundled garden waste collection for larger branches.
No garbage
No nappies
No crockery, Pyrex, or glassware
No recyclables, paper or cardboard
No plant pots
No polystyrene
No oil, chemicals or hazardous waste
No building material, bricks, steel or wood
No soil or potting mix

Can I put food waste into my garden bin?
No - we currently don't have a facility that can process food organics and garden organics (FOGO) into quality compost but we're working with the State Government's Metropolitan Waste Resource Recovery Group to make this service possible.
Until this happens, we encourage you to recycle your food waste and start composting using your own system.

Where does my garden waste go once collected?
Your garden waste collected from your garden bin is taken to the Garden State Mulching Service in Wantirna South then hauled to Gippsland for processing. Watch Back to Earth Initiative's video below:
