Manningham Art Studios is expanding its already diverse programming to offer printmaking workshops, thanks to the recent donation of an etching press from ‘enjay presses’ of Montrose.

Manningham CEO, Mr Warwick Winn, said the donation means the Manningham Art Studios can now provide classes in a visual art discipline that has not been possible to date.

“The professional quality etching press is a very kind donation and Council is very grateful to Mr Neil Jeffery of ‘enjay presses’ for his generosity that will provide enormous benefits to our local arts community.”

“As a direct result of the donation, Council is establishing an adult print making program, master classes, and an after school program for kids, so we look forward to seeing an abundance of creative works being produced by local artists,” he said.

Printmaking gives beginners the chance to explore different techniques such as etching, lino cut, relief printing and monoprinting, and allows the artist to reproduce their art work in a limited edition series or to develop a unique piece of work with each print they make.

‘enjay presses’ Director, Neil Jeffery donated the press to support Australian printmaking in a way that would broaden the experience of budding artists in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, as well as providing access to a press for more advanced printmakers.

The press has been delivered and installed at Manningham Art Studios and classes are expected to start in Term 4, beginning on Monday 3 October.

Manningham Art Studios offers a great range of affordable arts courses, creative workshops and activities, and is the perfect place to explore creativity in its many forms.
