Residents are urged to ‘Play it Safe’ near water this summer.

Manningham may not be near the coast, but residents should still take care as the potential for drowning is just as real in our rivers, lakes, dams and backyard pools.

Water holds a fascination for children and they are especially at risk of drowning. If you are a pool owner don’t run the risk, install fencing that adheres to building regulations around your home pool or spa.

Familiarise children with water

Manningham has one of the highest ratios of pool ownership in the Melbourne metropolitan area and residents are urged to familiarise children with water by taking them for swimming lessons and keeping them under constant supervision around water.

Summer fun at Aquarena

Head to Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre this summer and enjoy the new look Indoor Pool Hall that re-opened in October. Swimming lessons, school swimming programs, aqua exercise, aqua play, hydrotherapy, lap swimming and the leisure space are all back in action. This upgrade is part of a $20 million redevelopment of Aquarena and is yet another significant step to Aquarena's grand re-opening in mid 2016.
