Community groups and disadvantaged residents in Manningham were the real winners of this year’s Monster Community Raffle.

The annual community raffle saw more than $27,000 raised for the Manningham Charitable Fund and not-for-profit organisations in the City.

Manningham City Council Mayor Cr Michelle Kleinert said it was great to see so many people and community groups get behind such a great cause.

“This is a fantastic outcome with the money raised going towards funding services provided by community organisations and charities in our local communities,” she said.

Cr Michelle Kleinert said Council was incredibly appreciative to the sponsors and the generous support it received from the wider community.

The Raffle administered by the Kiwanis Club of Manningham and supported by Council was drawn for the first time at this year’s Council’s Volunteer Recognition Evening during National Volunteer Week. The event was attended by more than 200 volunteers representing community groups across the City.

Kiwanis Club of Manningham President Br Sean Keefe OAM said the club was proud to be involved in the raffle, giving back to the community and benefiting disadvantaged residents of Manningham.

“We hope to see the raffle grow even bigger in the coming years,” he said.

“Ten thousand dollars’ worth of prizes were drawn this year.”

Manningham City Council encourages all Manningham-based community organisations, schools and sporting clubs to sign up and get involved in next year’s raffle.

For every $2 ticket sold, $1.50 remains with the community organisation. The remaining 50 cents goes towards the Manningham Charitable Fund and is distributed to charities to assist with projects benefiting disadvantaged residents of Manningham.
