Providing public open space is a major priority for Manningham and Council is currently planning to expand the popular Green Gully Linear Park, by purchasing 8,256m² of vacant land in Glenvill Court, Templestowe.

The purchase of this land was identified as an action in the Green Gully Linear Park Management Plan adopted by Council in 2014 and Council’s Open Space Strategy 2014.

Wherever possible, Council is committed to expanding its open space network, however limited funds are available to purchase additional areas of public open space.

At its meeting on 15 December 2015, when it was formally resolved to purchase the land at Glenvill Court, Council also agreed to the sale of nearby Tatterson Reserve (1,635m²) to fund the purchase of this land for open space as it would provide an additional, larger and more strategically significant open space in the nearby area.

This would see an increase of 6,621m² (more than 1.5 acres) to Manningham’s open space network.

Acquiring the land is of strategic importance for the Green Gully Linear Park, which is currently 18.7 hectares in size, 2.2 kilometres long and an important habitat corridor with walking and cycling trails.

The purchase will ensure long term certainty for the character and amenity of Green Gully Linear Park and will also provide clarity in relation to its ongoing management and maintenance.

Manningham Council is inviting comments from the community on its proposal to sell the land known as Tatterson Reserve in Templestowe to fund the purchase of land to expand the nearby Green Gully Linear Park.

This proposal involves two separate statutory processes which require:

  • A planning permit process to remove the reserve status (municipal reserve) from the land, which is required under the Manningham Planning Scheme, and
  • Providing public notice of Council’s intention to sell the land including the opportunity for submissions to be made on proposed sale, which is required under section 189 of the Local Government Act 1989.

Written submissions are being invited from the community and can be forwarded by:

  • Mail to the Director Planning and Environment, Manningham City Council, PO Box 1 Doncaster, Victoria 3108
  • Online at www.yoursaymanningham.com.au/tatterson-reserve

Submissions close on Wednesday 13 April 2016. For more information, including frequently asked questions, visit www.yoursaymanningham.com.au/tatterson-reserve
