Primary School children across Manningham will be turning their trip to school into mini adventures in next month’s VicHealth Walk to School initiative.

Five local schools have registered for the program that encourages students to walk, ride, scoot or skate to and from school.

Manningham Mayor Cr Andrew Conlon said after months of remote learning, it’s great to see students return to the classrooms with their friends.

“Walk to School is a great way for students to get some physical activity into their day and develop healthy habits early on in life,” he said.

“It makes active travel fun, easy, safe and accessible, while building children’s confidence of their local area, meeting new friends and applying road safety skills.”

Walk to School will run throughout November and will help connect families, help the environment and reduce congestion and demands for parking around our schools.
